Abstracting & Indexing

PÕ¾ÊÓƵ works to ensure our publications are indexed in the most relevant abstracting and indexing services.

  • The purpose of A&I services is to enhance findability, visibility, and discoverability of scholarly content, generally and for a wide audience, in other cases for a specific subject area.
  • A&I services provide metadata, data fields, and access points for literature searches by users. Such access points are developed by specialists and include a thesaurus, ontology, and controlled vocabulary to make search results comprehensive and relevant. Data fields function by enhancing the metadata to enable retrieval of relevant findings even when non-standard key words are used in searches.
  • A&I services cater to different user needs and cover different types of documents: journals, books, book series, conference proceedings, patents, etc.
  • The relationship between the content owner and the database creator is extremely important. For both parties, the goal is to ensure that the most relevant content is reaching the most appropriate user at the right time and in the right format.

A&I Services

Astrophysics Data System (ADS)

The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a digital library portal for researchers in astronomy and physics, operated by the  under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 13 million records covering publications in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and the arXiv e-prints. Abstracts and full-text of major astronomy and physics publications are indexed and searchable through the database. The ADS tracks citations and usage of its records to provide advanced discovery and evaluation capabilities.

DOAJ is an online directory that indexes and provides access to open access, peer-reviewed journals.

EconLit

EconLit is published by the American Economic Association. It includes peer-reviewed journal articles, working papers from leading universities, PhD dissertations, books, collective volume articles, conference proceedings, and book reviews. The coverage includes 1.3 million records with the coverage as far back as 1886 and continues to grow by 65,000 entries each year. 

EI Compendex

EI Compendex is an engineering database providing 20 million records from 3,615 journals, 95,790 conference proceedings, 78 book series published by 2,200 publishers worldwide. EI Compendex covers Applied Physics, including Optics, Bioengineering and Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Materials Science, Instrumentation, including Medical Devices, and Nanotechnology.

GeoRef

The GeoRef database is published by the American Geosciences Institution. It is one of the most comprehensive databases in the geosciences.  and continues to grow by more than 100,000 each year. The database contains over 4 million references to geoscience publications.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites. Google Scholar helps you find relevant work across the world of scholarly research.

IET Inspec 

IET Inspec, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), is subject-specific and interdisciplinary database in the fields of Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical and Production Engineering. It contains over 18 million records.

²Ñ²¹³Ù³ó³§³¦¾±±·±ð³Ù® is a database offering information for the mathematical sciences literature. It contains more than 3 million items and over 2 million direct links to original articles.

MEDLINE

MEDLINE is offered by the U.S. National Library of Medicine ® (NLM). It is a premier bibliographic database containing more than 25 million references to journal articles in life sciences with a concentration on biomedicine from more than 5,200 worldwide journals in about 40 languages. A distinctive feature of MEDLINE is that the records are indexed with (MeSH®). MEDLINE includes literature published from 1966 to present, and selected coverage of literature prior to that period.

PsycINFO

PsycINFO, a service provided by American Psychological Association (APA), provides information on interdisciplinary behavioral and social science literature. It includes document types such as journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, editorials, tests, and assessment instruments. It also offers research methodologies such as clinical case reports, empirical studies and literature reviews. The database allows search functionality to identify grant or funding source. It contains more than 4 million bibliographic records from more than 2,500 scholarly journals connecting more than 90 million cited references.

Psyndex

Psyndex, published by Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information (ZPID), contains records of all psychological literature and audiovisual media from the German-speaking countries since 1977.

PubMed Central

PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM). In keeping with NLM’s legislative mandate to collect and preserve the biomedical literature, PMC serves as a digital counterpart to NLM’s extensive print journal collection. PMC contains more than 5 million full-text records, spanning several centuries of biomedical and life science research (late 1700s to present). Content is added to the archive through:

SciFinder and STN provide easy access to chemistry and related information. These are solutions offered by the Chemical Abstract Association, a part of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Scopus

Scopus is an abstract and citation database offered by Elsevier. Scopus indexes content from 24,600 active titles and 5,000 publishers which is rigorously vetted and selected by an independent review board, and uses a rich underlying metadata architecture to connect people, published ideas and institutions. Scopus offers information on author affiliations, number of publications, citations, references etc. Additionally, Scopus offers CiteScore providing citation data for all active titles covered in Scopus including journals, books, conference proceedings etc. Scopus’ CiteScore is an alternative metric to Journal Impact Factor offered by Journal Citation Report/Web of Science.

Web of Science

Web of Science is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary citation database with over 1 billion cited reference connections from 18,000 high impact peer reviewed journals, 180,000 conference proceedings, and over 80,000 books from around the world.

The zbMATH database contains about 4 million bibliographic entries with reviews or abstracts currently drawn from about 3,000 journals and serials, and 180,000 books. About 7,000 active expert reviewers from all over the world contribute reviews to zbMATH.
