Dr. Kim Wood is an Associate Professor in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona specializing in tropical meteorology. Dr. Wood’s research interests include evaluating tropical cyclone structure and intensity change as well as environmental factors impacting tropical cyclone activity. Much of their work relies on remotely-sensed observations, reanalysis datasets, numerical weather prediction, and open-source tools such as the Python programming language. Active professional service roles include the American Meteorological Society’s Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee, the Unidata Strategic Advisory Committee, and the Southeast Chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment. Dr. Wood holds an H.B.S in physics from Oregon State University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in atmospheric sciences from the University of Arizona.
